Foot patrol
Medical staff with an emergency bag and no ambulance – for indoor events and smaller crowds.
A foot patrol is the most mobile form of event cover: medical staff on site with an emergency bag and no ambulance. It is strongest where a vehicle would be in the way — indoors, in narrow streets, on a pedestrian street, inside a building, or simply where there is no way to drive in.
What a foot patrol can do
The crew moves around the event area, so there is practically no response time between the call and the start of treatment. The emergency bag holds basic life support equipment, and depending on the size of the event the crew is a paramedic, a senior paramedic or a doctor.
If a case occurs that needs transport, the crew treats the patient and arranges onward transport in cooperation with emergency dispatch.
When a foot patrol is not enough
If the crowd is large, if the programme carries a higher risk (combat sports, motor events, extreme sports), or if the venue is far from the nearest hospital, we also recommend vehicle standby. In that case a mobile patrol is the right level — with a basic or an advanced life support ambulance.
The two combine well: on a larger site a foot patrol walks the audience area while the ambulance stands by at an agreed point.
